Phoenicas is an arcade 2d shooter in the styles of space invaders and defender.

After a successful alien attack on earth, only 6 humans escaped. Five are onboard non-firing space vessels and one (you) is piloting the only remaining fighting craft. Your mission is to guard the vessels on the journey to safety. Aliens will attack the convoy and try to kill you and abduct the vessels, eliminating the human race. Phoenicas is an arcade musical 2d shooter in the styles of defender, exerion, phoenix, ikaruga and space invaders. Blast the invaders to pieces while protecting the last remaining humans, using upgradeable weapons and powerups and fight your way through the choreographed levels and game modes to achieve the highest scores. Score by combos, fastkills, selective shooting and accuracy, as well as effectively protecting and rescuing humans from the hands of the aliens. Phoenicas is an old school score-driven 2d shooter. It is a hardcore shooter at heart but has been made easier and more accessible for novices to enjoy also. (mouse control, easy mode etc). The defender-like mechanic of protecting humans and rescuing them right from the hands of the abductors dramaticises the gameplay experience.
